Title: BTNI Big Tech Narrative Initiative

Year: 2025-26

Synopsis:

We are at a critical juncture in how Big Tech is shaping our information ecosystems, social relationships, and democratic futures. The stories we tell about this moment will shape our futures. Narratives can create and enforce cultural norms, empower or disempower citizens to take action, and mold how we imagine our futures. The goal is to use the cohort of 5 films in this initiative as tools for discussion that work to engage, alert, and inspire diverse groups of citizens with regards to their relationship with Big Tech, in all of its forms.

Main themes: technology, citizens’ rights, digital rights, social media, AI

Core audience: Youth and their families, everyday users of digital technologies, human and digital rights advocacy groups and organizations

What we’re doing: Design of strategy for a cohort of 5 films to be used as a group for different screening initiatives; design of strategy for each individual film, in the execution of their respective campaigns.
