Title: SOS The San Onofre Syndrome

Year: 2023

Website: sanonofresyndrome.com

Synopsis:

The film presents an in-depth look at the people who spring into action after learning their nearby nuclear power plant could cause catastrophic damage.

Although the attention is on a plant located in a specific location in California, the concerns addressed can be taken into consideration for nuclear reactors across the U.S. and around the world.

Main themes: nuclear energy, waste, environmentalism, community activism, health and safety.

Core audience: Environmental and community activists, people curious and concerned about nuclear energy and waste, policymakers.

What we’re doing: Community outreach and partnership for screenings, discussion and activism.  This has been a continuous 3-year campaign, with partnerships and screenings around the U.S., Europe and Asia. The campaign has developed into something beyond the film, as a movement to address the dangers of old reactors, of nuclear energy development without clear and consistent regulation, and nuclear waste.

SOS is available for streaming on Filmin, Spain’s premier online platform.
